On Sunday we spent the day with Julie's family. We celebrated a belated Father's Day and had an early birthday party for Alex. We all went the beach (and I forgot the camera). Here is Alex's birthday celebration. I forgot to flip the camera to video - he was so excited to open this present and see a fireman costume and a Toy Story fishing pole. He said "NO WAY" when he opened it...
So hard to keep those fingers out of the frosting :)...
Eric took Alex to the driving range at the Grand Haven Golf Club. They were there for a couple of hours and Alex did not want to leave. He LOVED the sand trap. Eric said he was in there forever...chipping out of it, rolling in it, etc.
On Wednesday we got in some beach time. Due to the cooler temperatures during the previous nights- the water was FREEZING. Alex went in for a bit, but then said it was too cold. When we had been at the beach a few days before Alex loved playing in the water so it was too bad it was cold, but he was happy playing in the sand, running around, chasing birds, etc.

On Thursday we headed back to Eric's sisters to celebrate Father's Day and Alex's birthday. Alex was SO EXCITED to have a pinata for his party. Earlier in the week I took him to Party City to pick out his pinata and he picked a fire truck. Then he spent forever going through all the toy and candy bins picking out what he wanted in the pinata and he stuffed it himself one piece at a time. He played with that pinata for days before the party.
Present time. Alex whipped through his presents and barely registered what he got before he was on to the next one. He loved all his "bug hunting" equipment. He is such a boy and so into bugs right now.
Cake Time. I let Alex go to the store with me and pick out his own cake. There were Toy Story cakes, monster truck cakes, etc. But he wanted the fire truck one - it turned out very cute.
It was nice to be able to leave Brodie with my mom and do some special things with just Alex. One thing we did was take him miniature golfing. As we expected - he loved it! He really liked the holes that had big hills on them.

This little man was an angel the whole vacation. Everyone commented that he was the happiest baby they had every seen. He just smiled and snuggled his way into everyone's heart.
