Seriously??

Here is the description of how to administer Alex's eye ointment:

Tilt your head back, look up and gently pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch. Place 1/2 inch strip of ointment into the pouch. Gently close the eye and roll the eyeball in all directions to spread the medication. Try not to blink and do not rub the eye...

I mean seriously - have they ever tried that on a 2 month old....... I may ask at my appointment if there are drops we can use instead - much easier to get drops in a moving target then some ointment which you have to be basically touching the eye to get in..... We managed so far by using Eric's great idea and basically doing it while he is sleeping so he doesn't move so much..

Sneak Preview and Bonus Video

Alex has his 2 month well visit this Thursday (yes, slightly late - busy pediatrician's office). Well today we had a quick unexpected visit to the doctor...This morning, while he was stretching, Alex decided to try to gouge his eye out and he scratched himself on the very inner corner of his eye and some blood came out of his eye as it was tearing up - not a fun sight for a mom. Called the doctor and the nurse said the doctor wanted to check it out - so we went in...the eye is completely fine (yeah)... as long as we didn't catch the swine flu while we were there - all is well!

Now to the sneak preview...they do weigh him every visit and Alex weighed in at 13 lbs 10 oz (clothed) this morning!!! Can't wait to see his height and percentages, etc. on Thursday..... will keep you posted...

And here is a new video ... it is hard for me to video him and get him to smile at the same time b/c he gets distracted by the camera, so we will make a new one with Eric's help this week... (with a little more exciting dialogue ;)) but apparently my mom watches the bath one everyday, so I thought she could use a new one ;)

Anyone need a Bandaid???

What a linen closet looks like if you go to Target and spend $900 trying to use up your flex spending money before the deadline... (the picture doesn't do it justice)

Alex will have GI Joe and Spiderman bandaids until he is 18...

Kickin' it in East Lansing

I had the chance for some guy time when we visited the 616 over Labor Day. We were on the road to East Lansing at 6:30am and tailgated until the noon kickoff. The weather was perfect and it was fun being back on MSU's campus. State played St Mary's School of the Blind and won by a million.

Spartan Stadium

Vandy and Brian playing Bags (studies have shown this game to be addictive)

This is where our tailgate area was. Timmy, Ross, Jim, Papa V and Franz chillin'

On Saturday night, Tim Arkema hosted a deck party. Tim is a friend from college who Vandy knows as well. So we went out to Hudsonville to hangout for a while. Pictured is Trent, myself, Ryan, Tim and Vandy. Tim has an awesome backyard which included two Bags games, a bar, a TV and a keggerator.

Was it a Fluke???

Alex slept from 8:30 pm - 5:30 am last night- YEAHHHH!!!!!!

I went to Bunco on Wednesday night and one of the girls gave me a tip. She said when her baby woke up for her middle of the night feeding, she would offer her a pacifier first before getting her up to feed her and in 4 nights she was skipping the middle of the night feeding. So, we tried this method and yes Alex went right back to sleep with the pacifier. He clocked about 6 hours the first two nights (close to what he was doing anyway) and then the impressive performance last night.... I am not even sure he woke up in the middle of the night at all last night...unless I half asleep gave him a pacifier at one point ; )..... let's hope the trend continues!!!

He is currently clocking a 2 hour+ nap that started in church this morning...

What the?!?!?!?!

Yesterday Michigan State lost a football game to Central Michigan University. Similar to a situation in high school where the varsity team would lose a game to a JV team. Highly un-cool.
There much much unhappiness in the Postma household following the game as illustrated below.

Alex's First Vacation

We DROVE up to Michigan to visit our families for a long Labor Day weekend (with two new additions- Alex and a cartop carrier). Alex was such a little trooper spending all that time in his carseat and now that we need to stop to feed him our new travel time to MI hovers around 12 hours.

We had a wonderful weekend with "the best weather West Michigan has had all summer" according to the local meteorologists...

Friday Night:
Ang and Tim hosted both of our families at their house (Thank You). We were able to spend the night hanging out on their deck. Eric and I say every trip how blessed we are that we enjoy spending time with each other's families and in addition, that our families get along great with each other.

Ang's boys kept Uncle Eric busy--- they are TOO CUTE!

Saturday:
We always call this day "Friends Day". Eric was able to spend the day at the MSU tailgate and then a deck party. I spend the day with my close friend Sara - our day involved "Margarita pedicures" and dinner on a deck (unfortunately no pics - camera was with Eric).

Sunday:
We spend Sunday with Eric's family. SO MUCH good food and just a day to catch up and enjoy time together.

4 generations...too bad Eric's dad was already at work...

Alex got a lot of cuddle time in with Grammy.

Monday:
After a morning of golfing for the boys we spent the day out in Grand Haven at Julie's families. Grilling out, badminton and more time just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Grandma and Grandpa were so happy to have all their grandkids together -
