13 MONTHS
Alex turned 13 Months Old this past weekend - this posting is a little belated b/c I lost all of my pictures and videos when I uploaded them to the computer - SO SAD! I will try to get some more videos made this week.

Here is what our little man is up to these days...
*Walking and walking and walking and then walking some more. He loves his new found independence.
*Has 5 teeth and working on the 6th - he got a new top incisor a week or so ago.
*He is still a great eater, but veggies are getting trickier. He loves his sweet potatoes still, but other veggies have suddenly been making their way into Buddies diet. He loves all fruit from Kiwi and watermelon to grapes and bananas and everything in between. He insists on having forks and spoons and bowls and plates to eat off of like a big boy.
*Alex is starting to point to body parts. He can do hair, feet and hands consistently and is close to mastering tummy and ears.
*He has just a little "stranger danger"/separation anxiety going on. When we go to a new place - friend's house, nursery, etc. he needs to take it all in and stay close to Eric or I for about 5 minutes, then he is good to go.
*Not really any official new words yet - he is attempting so much more and starting to say some approximations - "ba" for ball - just nothing really consistent yet.
*Thinks opening and closing doors, gates, etc. is great fun.
*Still loves playing outside...and his three favorite things outside are
......the umbrella......

....playing in the rocks.....

....and carrying around Eric's vuvuzela horn everywhere.....

*Alex is completely weened as of about 2 weeks ago. He adapted great and goes to bed and down for naps like a champ. He is still a great sleeper - usually a good 11 hours or more at night.
*Alex loves trucks. In the car he gets very excited to see trucks go by and the garbage and recycling days are huge excitement in our house when he gets to watch those trucks out the front window.
*He has started to dance to music - too cute.
*Still loves books. He likes books with cars, trucks or trains, Clifford books and animal books. His two favorites right now are "I Love Trucks" and "I Love Trains".

Breakfast with Daddy
If Alex gets up before Eric leaves for work, he is all about some Daddy Time.....partly because he loves Eric and partly because he wants whatever Eric is eating. The other day I gave Alex his own bowl of cereal and he thought he was so cool sitting on the couch with Eric.

p.s. Happy Anniversary today to my amazing husband of 6 years!

Stats
We finally had our 12 month well visit today- so these are more like 13 month stats ----
Once again we are very blessed to have a healthy boy and a great report from the doctor.
Weight - 22lbs 13 oz (just under 50th percentile)
Height - 30 1/2 inches (75th percentile) - this may need an asterisk by it as Alex was wiggling all over the paper as the nurse tried to measure him - so accuracy a little iffy...
Head - 47 1/4 inches - 75th percentile
He got 3 shots today and a finger poke for iron testing. I don't know if he was more aware of the shots or just tired because it was nap time, but he sure did cry hard this time!

Really?
According to a few articles I read about hot tubs and the recommended temperatures to set a hot tub: 101 degrees when its in use and 95 degrees when its not used. Huh...not that far off from our current pool temp of 92 degrees. (Yesterday it was 93). I jumped in the pool yesterday evening and was shocked at how hot the water felt. The weather this summer is like nothing this Yankee has ever experienced.
Next week's forecast: triple digits again with heat indexes of 115. The Fall can't get here fast enough.

Oppressive.....
....basically describes our current weather pattern. Record setting heat is getting really old. Our daily routine is to play outside from 6-7 am - then we take a short walk around 7:30 and I am drenched by the time we get done walking. The pool temperature is 92 degrees - hardly refreshing. We can't even be outside unless we are in the pool - we will officially say it - WE ARE SO SICK OF THIS HEAT!!!

Anyway - lots of playtime inside these days.
Alex pretty much spends his days walking around the house with different objects in his hand - he just loves to be walking. He goes upstairs to play about 100x a day and walks between all the rooms and helps "reorganize". We have some trains in boxes in the guest room he loves to explore and he loves to wreak havoc on his once organized closet...

He is also perfecting his climbing skills...

When Eric gets home it is all about daddy and Alex has to follow him everywhere - this is him trying to figure out where daddy disappeared to when Eric went into the bathroom...
