Alex's Perfect Saturday

Well if there had been a trip to a golf course or the driving range it would have been completely perfect,  but it was still a pretty good day in Alex's book....

Saturday started with some yard work with Daddy.  Alex is such a little mini-Eric.  He just looks up to Eric and has to do everything exactly like Eric.  Eric got dressed in his swimsuit on Saturday morning and before we knew it Alex had gone upstairs by himself without saying a word to us and went through his drawers to find his swimsuit so he could wear it just like daddy.  Then he asked me why Daddy didn't have a shirt on and I said because Daddy was hot.  Alex said he was hot too and did not need to wear a shirt either ;).

Trimming the bushes  -
Mowing the grass.  I came out a little too late, but Alex had been walking right behind Eric, following his path...

And the big event - the first swim of the year.  Alex was a little careful for the first minute - it could be that the water was a little chilly yet...

After the initial entry into the pool, Alex had no fear and no hesitation.  He was jumping off the side, jumping off rafts, the ladder, etc.  He then followed Eric to the diving board and leaped off without giving it a second thought...

TRUCKS TRUCKS TRUCKS

Our local children's science museum, Sci Quest, has an annual event called, "Hands on Trucks".  They have 30 different trucks in the parking lot, ranging from ice cream trucks and moving trucks to fire trucks and tractors.  The kids can freely explore and climb in all the various trucks.  While Eric was home recovering from "The Big Snip", I took the boys to see all the trucks. Alex loved it and Brodie was content as could be to just take it all in.

Here is a little sampling of all that we saw -

Street sweeper...

 Big Green Tractor...

Saying Hi to "Two Men and a Truck"...

 Pick up truck...

 Sitting in the ambulance...

 Alex loved the big digger...

Of course the ice cream truck was a hit....(met up with his buddy Evan)....

Another favorite was the fire truck....

4 Months Old

Okay - technically 4 months and 10 days old.

Brodie had his 4 month well visit today. Here are the stats for our BIG boy -

Weight - 15 lbs 9oz (50-75th)
Height -27 1/4 inches (off the charts)
*The doctor said if Brodie continues this way he thinks he is going to be 6'5'' to 6'8'' :). Hopefully he won't be quite that tall!

To compare Alex was 15lb 8oz and 25 inches - And here is a picture of Alex at 4 months -

Brodie continues to be the happiest little guy. When he is awake he is always full of smiles and squeals and just goes with the flow. He is very content to just hang out and watch what is going on around him. Brodie really never cries unless he is hungry or tired.

Brodie likes to play in his exasaucer.

Brodie is constantly playing with his toes.

He always has his fists/hands/fingers in his mouth and is a faucet of drool!

He is happy as can be outside - I wear him in the Bjorn facing out or put him in a stroller or just hold him and he loves to watch the leaves blow in the trees or just watch Alex play. Brodie likes to stand up and bear weight on his legs - he is so strong already.

Brodie has mastered the high pitched scream!

Brodie loves bath time and does a cute little giggle when you undress him, like he knows what is coming.

Brodie is grabbing at everything - toys, hair, clothes, etc. Alex thinks it is so funny if Brodie grabs on to him.

Brodie loves Alex and despite the abuse that he sometimes gets from his big brother, Alex can always make him laugh and giggle.

The only area in which our sweet baby boy gives us a run for our money is his sleeping habits. I could write a whole novel on them - but basically he is just really inconsistent. He eats at 7pm for the night and he was going until 6-7am, but lately has been waking at 4am-give or take to eat. He will usually wake a couple of times at night because he comes unswaddled. We tried to wean him off the swaddle, but he just constantly kept waking himself up. We have gone to stomach sleeping for naps and may need to start doing that at night too. I am trying to get him to go down awake for naps, but he screams bloody murder so I usually have to get him groggy and then he still cries, but I can pat him to sleep usually. Naps are a guessing game too - sometimes long, sometimes short, sometimes he wakes up crying several times during them....Basically we are working on some trial and error to see what will get him to sleep the best and it probably involves letting him cry some more and figuring some things out on his own. But, he still appears to struggle with gas and some reflux as often when he wakes crying if I pick him up he will burp or spit up and then go back to sleep - so still working on all that and figure I won't get to cuddle him forever!

So, some day he will sleep well and now we are just thankful for our healthy, good natured, sweet little boy!

3am Conversation

I was up at 3am this morning to give Brodie a pacifier when I heard Alex calling for me. It wasn't an "I'm scared" voice, it was an excited/"Momma come see this voice". Here is the conversation that unfolded....

ALEX: MOMMA MOMMA MOMMA MOMMA MOMMA MOMMA MOMMA MOMMA MOMMA

ME: (opens door) Alex, what do you need?

ALEX: Momma, there is poop in my bed!

ME: Where is the poop? (while in a split second thinking all of these things at once.....SERIOUSLY/maybe he threw up and doesn't know what to call it/realizing I don't actually smell anything)

ALEX: Right there (points to his pillow)

ME: (turns on hall light for a better view) I don't see any poop

ALEX: Right there (points to his comforter)

ME: I don't think there is any poop in your bed

ALEX: "Hmmmmmm...I thought I saw some poop"

Then Alex lays down and asks for a Bob story and proceeds to go right back to sleep. Sorry little man that your dreams involve poop in your bed - maybe it is time to potty train ;).

Easter Weekend

Our Easter weekend started with a little Easter Egg Hunt. We went with Alex's friend, Rory. We went to the same one last year and this year Alex definitely knew what he was doing and was on a mission and filled his big bucket in no time.

They had the Easter Bunny there this year as well. Alex loved him, he kept asking to see him the whole time and would go and give him hugs and high fives.

We were happy to have my parents here for Easter as well. We even made it out for Easter Brunch - we had a little window where both children would be happy and ended up swallowing the last few bites whole, but it was very nice.

Alex with Grandma and Papa by the fountain at the restaurant....

Grammy and Grampy sent Alex an Easter package with a little "stomp on it rocket" and he loved it! It proved to be hours of fun over the weekend!

Of course there was a lot of golf involved in our weekend. Alex watched a lot of The Masters with Eric. He can identify Tiger Woods, Phil Michelson and now Bubba. It is very cute how he pronounces Michelson - will have to do a video. Now when Alex misses a shot he stands back and crouches down and looks at it - "like the men on tv do" :).

Papa played "driving range" with Alex. He set up the flag on one side of the driveway and then a tee and bucket of balls on the other side so Alex could pretend he was at the driving range. Alex literally golfed for 2 hours straight the first morning they did this. His hand was full of blisters so Papa surprised him after his nap with his very own golf glove - it is definitely his prized possession!

When I was playing "driving range" with Alex this week I gave him a bucket of balls and he said "Momma, say 'welcome to the driving range' to me" ;).

Here he is at dinner one night perusing a golf magazine while he eats ;)

He also got a little fishing in with Papa's fishing pole. Alex can't wait to go to Michigan this summer and go fishing with Papa and Grampy!

Brodie was around for Easter weekend too :). He turned 4 months old on Sunday, so I am working on his very own post.
