Happy Birthday!

Our baby is ONE!!!

We celebrated Brodie's big day with the four of us on Saturday.  Brodie opened the presents our family had sent him, with a lot of help and assistance from Big Brother.

Alex picked out a train cake for us to make for Brodie's birthday.  It did not turn out exactly as I had envisioned, but you could tell it was a train ;).  Brodie was a little unsure of the cake at first...he started with some poking, then some squishing, but once he got a bite he decided it was good stuff!!

Here is what our sweet boy is up to these days...

Brodie is taking 2-3 steps pretty consistently.  He will walk between different toys/pieces of furniture and he will cruise along walls or other flat surfaces, but hasn't taken the big plunge into being a real walker yet.

He just started clapping.

He continues to LOVE outside.  He cries when we come inside and he will cry if we open the door to the garage to throw out a dirty diaper or something because he thinks we are going to go outside and he will crawl full speed toward the door. 

Brodie is still a Daddy's Boy.  Brodie will be playing happily with toys and if he hears or sees Eric he will immediately speed crawl over to him and fuss until Eric picks him up and then fuss if Eric tries to put him down.  A little exhausting for Daddy on the weekends :).

Brodie is a great eater and loves food!  He is not drinking a lot of fluids from sippy cups yet.  He can drink out of them, but is only drinking a few ounces a day right now.  He is still nursing two times a week - about to be one in a couple of days.

Brodie still has 6 teeth, but is working on getting in his one year molars, currently 3 are breaking through.

Brodie will imitate our actions - i.e. he will pick up a brush and pretend to brush his hair, he will hold up a phone and talk into it, he will brush his cheeks with my make up brushes, etc.

He says "mama" and "dada" and appears to understand what he is staying, but doesn't use the words exclusively for us.

He is currently sleeping well.  He is once again consistently sleeping through the night.  He goes down easily for naps and bedtime.  He is sleeping from about 7pm-6am give or take and still takes two naps, which usually total about 3 hours.  

Brodie is into everything and a climber!!
