Grandma

We can't even begin to thank my mom for the two weeks she spent helping us out. It was such a relief to know that Alex was being loved and cared for while we were in the hospital. My mom did countless loads of laundry, cooked meals and cleaned (the move the furniture kind of clean). And while we appreciate all of this more than we can say - the best part was all the hours she spent with Alex and the special bond they have. They spent hours outside and Alex loves weeding with Grandma. For several days after she left, when Alex would see an airplane he would say, "Grandma come back home on that plane". Apparently our house is her home :).

Early Christmas

We let Alex open his presents from Grandma and Papa while Grandma was at our house. The big set of tools was a huge hit and everything in our house has been getting fixed since...

Brotherly Love

Alex is an excellent big brother and he still wants to hold Baby Brother all the time and help with everything. Poor Brodie is still called Baby Brother by all of us most of the time and is not really Brodie yet.

Our Family

Brodie Jon is a pretty content baby so far, however when he is hungry there better be some milk NOW! We had one night where Momma and Brodie got to hang out quite a bit, but last night we had some nice long sleeping stretches, so hopefully that trend continues. Brodie has jaundice and we are dealing with daily lab visits, but otherwise Brodie is doing well.

Alex is a very sweet big brother and he just wants to hold Baby Brother all of the time...

Brodie Jon

Brodie Jon Postma was born on December 8, 2011 at 12:08 pm.

10.1 lbs and 22 inches. I was induced as my doctor was worried about how big the baby was getting - I guess he was right about him being a big baby! The labor went quick - I started pushing at 12:00, so it didn't take long after that for Brodie to make his appearance. We aren't quite sure who he looks like yet...

We are home and adjusting to a family of four - with a lot of help from Grandma right now!! I will be curious to see Brodie's personality appear - my first impression is that his is going to be a lot more demanding than Alex was as a newborn. When Brodie is hungry - he is hungry NOW and he does not enjoy diaper changes AT ALL. Brodie and I spent a lot of quality time together during the night last night - so we will see if he has days/nights mixed up or if it was just an off night....lots of fun to come :).

More pictures to come soon of Brodie and Big Brother Alex!!

Rainy Afternoon

Thankfully we were able to spend the morning at the playground before the rain kept us inside all afternoon today. I was not motivated to leave the house on this dreary, wet afternoon...so we had some inside fun today...

*Making Gingerbread Cookies...

Alex thinks the cleaning up is as fun as making the cookies....

*Playdough...Alex loves playing with playdough lately. His new thing is to pretend that the playdough is mud and he has to re-enact the monster trucks that he watches on TV with Eric....the cars get stuck in the mud and flip over and pop wheelies, etc.

Christmas Parade

We went to our city's little Christmas Parade tonight with our friends - the Lopez family. The boys loved seeing all the lights, Christmas decorations, bands, and of course the candy that was thrown from the floats was a huge hit.

Notice the FIRM grip on the Tootsie Roll .....

The boys were very tentative at first about running to get the candy and then they just wanted to eat it all...Alex's little pockets were over flowing : ). Thankfully he shared some of the candy bars with his Momma! Here is a video from early on...they needed some encouragement to be greedy and they were so distracted by what was coming next in the parade...
